Dr. Jimmy Arthur Atkins

Jimmy Arthur Atkins is a native of Gaston, North Carolina, where he grew up in a large family as one of 10 children. True Worship recently celebrated its 8 Year Church Anniversary and continues to serve the Body of Christ through hybrid ministries that Transform Lives, Build Community, and Advance the Kingdom of God.
Atkins is a proud graduate of North Carolina A&T State University, the University of Delaware, and Regent University where he completed his doctoral studies. He is also a graduate of Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington DC where he earned a Master of Arts in Theology. He is a Public Theology Fellow at Wesley Theological Seminary and a Fellow in the Higher Education Leadership Foundation.
Pastor Atkins has published two books and written numerous articles that have been published in scholarly and professional publications. His most recent work on Civil Rights leader, John Lewis was published in African American Activism and Political Emplowerment: An Encyclopedia.
While Atkins has been blessed through formal education, the many lessons he has learned from his parents, Olivia and George Atkins, Sr., who have both gone onto glory, his siblings, church and extended family, and loving community continue to shape and inspire him.
Pastor Atkins is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc where he serves as Chaplain. He also serves as Chaplain for the Greater Raleigh National Panhellenic Council which represents all D9 Organizations. Atkins is married to his wife, Lady Kecia of 20 years and God has blessed them with two sons, James, a rising 11th grader, and George, a rising 9th grader. His favorite scripture is 2 Timothy 2:2, “And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.”
